Wazau-CHD - Contact Heating Device

1. general information

The Wazau-CHD test device serves for test regarding to EN702 to examine the thermal transfer behavior of protective cloths.

The main test procedure is given as followed:

A piece of protective cloth (specimen) is mounted at the surface of a calorimeter and is lifted upwards to a heater at a constant velocity. The initial temperature of the calorimeter has to be stored when a remaining gap of 10mm between heater and calorimeter is left and the device has to continue lifting until a close contact between calorimeter, specimen and heater is made.

The contact area, the thermal capacity and the component geometry of all involved parts is given by EN702, the defined contact force is assured by a specific weight of the heating-unit, which is lifted by the drive at contact.

The temperature difference between calorimeter and heater causes a rising temperature at the calorimeter and the time it takes to increase it by 10°C is the significant result of the test, which depends on the thermal ***lation behavior of the specimen.

To assume comparable results, test have to be performed at defined ambient conditions using pre-conditioned specimen.
